Our Process

Start by Listening

Sustainable change is a collaborative endeavor rooted in local leadership and local expertise.

Never assuming we are needed anywhere, at Flint Global we only go where we are invited by local leaders who will drive change forward long after we are gone. We begin by listening to and learning from these leaders and other members of the community where we will be working. Our listening sessions are the beginning of a long-term relationship focused on real outcomes that empower local communities like never before.

As we listen with humility, prioritize local knowledge, and uncover the "why" behind present challenges, the door is opened for genuine and lasting change.

Local Leaders

The power to drive meaningful change lies not in the intentions of outsiders, but in the wisdom and drive of those already on the ground—local leaders. Only in partnership with local champions can long-term success be achieved.

Local leaders are deeply connected to the realities on the ground, possess contextual insights, and understand the nuances of the issues being tackled and the opportunities available. Flint Global’s work is a collaborative effort with these leaders who are already present and working tirelessly to transform their own communities.

In partnership with the community change-agents, Flint’s initiatives fill critical gaps in the most effective way possible. Not only does this help people permanently climb out of the pit of poverty, but through the process our toolkit also becomes internalized into the local community so that they can continue to multiply the impact long after we’re gone.

Holistic Solutions

To create lasting change, we must recognize that issues are complex, multifactoral, and interlinked and that solutions must likewise be nuanced and comprehensive.

Solutions to local problems should not come from a board room 7,000 miles away. Instead, Flint works with local leaders to develop a context-specific application of Flint’s tools, training, and resources, specifically fitted for the community. Likewise, when gaps are identified that fall outside our expertise, we proactively find additional partners to help fill those gaps. By embracing a holistic approach, we honor the interconnectedness of social, economic, and environmental factors, aiming not just for isolated improvements but for comprehensive transformation.

Respects the dignity and complexity of the human experience.

Relational Investments

Lasting change requires relational investment, not only transactional intervention. “One-and-done” trainings or micro-loans are rarely enough to produce lasting transformation. The pathway out of poverty requires guides, mentors, and friends. In recognition of this reality, our process focuses on building relationships and a connected community of global change-seekers.

This connected community makes it possible for program participants to be mentored by local trainers and coaches who will walk with them for years into the future. True relationship, not just “training.”

And this connected community also includes the generous community around the world who give, volunteer, and invite others to join the movement.
